The Voice of Hind Rajab, which received an Academy Award nomination this year and won the prestigious Silver Lion at the Venice Film Festival, is one of those works whose urgency demands immediate attention. After achieving great success at the One World Festival, where it also took home the main prize from the Brussels section, it is now moving into exclusive home distribution. The One World Online platform is the only place in the Czech Republic where the film is available, offering audiences the chance to watch this acclaimed documentary from the comfort of their homes while it is still screening in cinemas.
Renowned Tunisian director Kaouther Ben Hania has created a work that moves between staged reconstruction and documentary. The entire narrative focuses on a rescue operation conducted by Red Crescent call centre workers in Ramallah, reconstructing the chilling emergency call of six-year-old Hind. Trapped in a car under fire, the girl pleads for help as rescuers struggle to maintain contact and attempt to dispatch an ambulance located just 800 metres away. In besieged Gaza, however, this proves an insurmountable distance. The film builds on the power of voice and silence, using authentic recordings of phone calls that not only gave the film its title but also provide an exceptionally urgent testimony to the failure to protect civilians.
Director Kaouther Ben Hania is the author of several internationally acclaimed works. Her previous film Four Daughters received the Golden Eye award for Best Documentary at the Cannes Film Festival. With The Voice of Hind Rajab, however, she has reached the very pinnacle of world cinema. The film began its journey at the Venice Film Festival, where it won the Grand Jury Prize, and has since collected one prestigious award after another. Its exceptional quality is further confirmed by a long list of nominations for the most important film awards of 2026:
This award-winning film of this year’s edition, offering a chilling testimony about the limits of humanitarian organisations in conflict, will be available to stream on the One World Online platform from Thursday, 30 April until Wednesday, 13 May. The film is available exclusively on this platform in its original version with both Czech and English subtitles.
