(I, Poppy)
For twenty years, the authorities have been buying up crops at derisory prices and multiplying the profits for their own benefit, pushing farmers into poverty, the black market, or open resistance. This family drama follows charismatic teacher Mangilal, who gradually evolves from a respected community member into a voice of defiance. Meanwhile, his mother remains anchored in quiet resignation to her work and official power, viewing it as the only possible means of survival. With extraordinary visual sensitivity, the film captures the beauty of the landscape alongside the harsh reality of people trapped in a caste system where the possibility of choice is often merely an illusion.
