Siblings Howard and Juliette, together with their uncle Chris, face the looming threat of being forced from their home. Their native Isle de Jean Charles in Louisiana is disappearing beneath the rising sea due to the climate crisis. The area is set to become the first community in the United States to be relocated inland by the government. Using time-lapse footage, the film captures the residents’ hesitation to leave and their farewells to the quiet life of their fishing community. While the increasing strikes of hurricanes do not break the family’s bond or determination, it becomes clear that they will soon lose their homes forever. The film is a powerful testimony to the deep connection between people and the land, and a warning about the often-overlooked issue of climate displacement.
