Jakub Zelený graduated from the Faculty of Humanities and the Faculty of Science, majoring in ecology. In his doctoral research, he focused on interdisciplinary approaches to the study of socio-ecological systems—that is, the relationships between society and the landscape. In his work, he evaluates ecosystem health using remote sensing data and assesses ecosystem services through sociological and participatory methods.

At People in Need, he participates in assessing the state of the landscape on a nationwide scale and develops interdisciplinary approaches to strengthening the resilience of municipalities. At the same time, he is involved in urban agriculture and manages a small farm in Kunratice.
