Homeless Blues
(Homeless Blues)
Homeless people are a common yet overlooked presence in Prague. City districts often respond by pushing them out of public spaces, but this does nothing to address the problems they face.
Prague 9 has taken a different approach. The district has offered homeless residents modest housing in construction units along with work opportunities within the community. Instead of treating homelessness as a social puzzle, this initiative turns people without homes into active members of the community who participate in public life. The daily struggle for survival is replaced by caring for animals, maintaining public spaces, and developing friendships and romantic relationships. Will this program help them build independent lives, or will they simply become dependent on another form of support? This time-lapse collective portrait of people at the bottom of the economic ladder raises important questions about how society views poverty, responsibility, and solidarity.
