Love Letters

(Des preuves d'amour)

A year after the legalization of same-sex marriage in France, Nadia and Céline are expecting a child. In their upcoming roles as mothers, they face their own doubts, the complexities of the system, and societal prejudices.

A year has passed since French lawmakers approved same-sex marriage and adoption rights. Nadia and Céline recently married and are now expecting a baby. While Nadia looks forward to motherhood as her pregnancy progresses, Céline struggles with her own uncertainty as she must gather affidavits from fifteen people to prove she’s capable of becoming a mother.

This lighthearted drama highlights the absurdity of a system that tries to legislate love. Told with sensitivity, it shows that both partnership and parenthood carry emotions too deep for words, or laws.”
