Is it even possible to be a good parent in a predatory age of illusory needs and false role models? Gunnar certainly tries. He is attentive, playful, and understanding. Yet over time, a dramatic rift begins to open between him and his son.
Over the course of twenty years, director Gunnar Jensen filmed his son’s life—from his first steps, through a shared journey into the wilderness, to early adulthood, which ultimately took a path no one could have foreseen. In a playfully associative and ironically self-reflective portrait of parental uncertainty, Gunnar confronts the fundamental question: where did it all go wrong? How is it possible that those closest to us can also become the most distant? Both tender and lighthearted, this journey into the inner worlds of two men spans multiple eras and exposes the fragility of the moral values that shaped them.
