Put Your Soul on Your Hand and Walk
(Put Your Soul on Your Hand and Walk)
Fatima photographs life and death in a besieged Gaza. Her docu-diary comes to life through video calls with an Iranian director, creating an intimate bond between two women bound by helplessness but connected through hope.
The Palestinian photographer rarely loses her warm smile, even amid the horrors of a bombarded Gaza. Her desire to bear authentic witness gives her purpose and the will to live. Week after week, she connects over a faltering and disrupted signal with the renowned Iranian filmmaker. For one, it is a window into a free world; for the other, a glimpse of an unforgiving prison. For both, it is a miracle whenever the connection holds. Two screens, two faces, Fatima’s photographs and videos form the simple visual language of the film, complemented by the sounds of a Gaza under siege.
