The Pink Pill: Sex, Drugs & Who Has Control

(The Pink Pill: Sex, Drugs & Who Has Control)

While male sexual fulfillment is celebrated and easily supported by pills like Viagra, female sexuality remains taboo. That all might be about to change with the idea for a single pill. An exhilarating fight for equality begins.

When a man is unable to perform sexually, society treats it as a problem that needs fixing. Entire industries exist to support male arousal. But what about women? Their desire has long been ignored. When arousal does not come despite wanting sex, medicine stays silent and doctors suggest a glass of wine instead. One day, Cindy Eckert decides she’s had enough. She launches a years-long battle against American bureaucracy, entrenched prejudice, and conservative ideas of what satisfying sex should look like. Her mission is the development of a female version of Viagra, a project that repeatedly meets resistance from authorities uneasy about the prospect of aroused women. In this euphoric and provocative film, female desire finally gets the chance to speak out loud and clear, insisting that orgasm is a fundamental human right.
