Soldiers of Light

(Soldaten des Lichts)

From raw diets and dietary supplements to building one’s own empire. Where does one draw the line between a wellness lifestyle and dangerous conspiracy?

David, known as “Mister Raw,” is an influencer who promotes raw veganism and dietary supplements as the only path to absolute health. Yet beneath the façade of “clean eating” and spiritual growth lies an elaborate system of manipulation. As a member of the “Citizens of the Reich” movement, David rejects the legitimacy of the German state and actively participates in building his own utopian Kingdom of Germany. The film follows David and his assistant Tim, who attempts to treat his mental health issues through overpriced vitamins and extreme fasting. Through close access to its protagonists, the filmmaking team uncovers how the desire for a “clean” body can easily spiral into toxic ideology. From conversations about the spiritual world emerge the shadows of a biopolitical evil that leech off human vulnerability and the deep need to belong.
