Take the Money and Run

(Take the Money and Run)

A work of art or outright theft? Jens Haaning borrowed half a million Danish crowns from a museum to create an art installation. He ended up submitting just two empty frames...

He mockingly titled the piece “Take the Money and Run.” What followed was a media frenzy that spilled far beyond the art world and made headlines all around the globe. While the museum pursued legal action, Jens drew attention to the systemic undervaluing of artists and the skewed reality of the contemporary art market. Equal parts entertaining detective story and fascinating portrait, the documentary explores the life of this idiosyncratic artist, who lives with bipolar disorder. Could the entire affair be a consequence of this diagnosis?
