SPI

(烤火房的一些夢)

Dreams of her late grandfather bring director Sayun back to her native village, where she seeks to reconnect with her family legacy and traditional way of life.

In the Tayal language, Spi means “dream”, a bridge between the living and their ancestors. Recurring dreams of her grandfather inspire Sayun to document her family within the traditional Gaga community. The absence of the family patriarch has left relatives adrift in uncertainty and grief, while the unexpected pregnancy of Sayun’s teenage cousin exposes generational tensions. Through her intimate portrayal of Tayal customs, Sayun uncovers a lost connection to her roots. Her personal journey delicately reveals a family caught between modernity and ancestral memory, struggling to preserve its cultural heritage.
