May is a political anthropologist specializing in Lebanon where she explores hope-making in the aftermath of violence, and within oppressive political systems. She also researches kinship and emotions in politics and the importance of the moral self in political decision-making. More recently, her research has expanded to Europe, where she focuses on the impacts of securitization on religious and racialized minorities, as well as the impact of migration on political participation.
