Anna Filipi

Anna Filipi is a PhD student at the Department of Middle Eastern Studies, Charles University in Prague, where she previously completed her Master's degree. She holds a BA in Middle Eastern Studies from the School of Oriental and African Studies (SOAS), University of London. Her doctoral research examines the relationship between the Asad authoritarian regime and Syria’s ethno-religious minorities. Anna is also a junior researcher for the Charles University-funded research project (Im)Vision, which examines political imaginaries of local actors against the backdrop of recent protest movements in the Middle East, and she’s a part-time research fellow for the Association for International Affairs (AMO), analyzing and reporting on current events in the Middle East through various media outlets. Her professional interests include Syria, minorities, and contemporary politics and society in the Middle East.
