32 Meters
A humorous look into the heart of a Turkish village, where a group of women decide to challenge traditional social roles in an imaginative way. They do so with due wit and stubbornness.
Mariann Sæther is one of Norway’s most renowned kayakers. Her life is filled with both the thrill of white-water kayaking and raising her two young children, Benjamin and Saga. In her forties, Mariann decides to combine family life with this extreme sport.
Mariann becomes a mother but refuses to give up what she loves. She balances between two worlds – in one, she knowingly risks her life navigating deadly waterfalls; in the other, she strives to be a loving parent. From an early age, she teaches her son to respect nature while also running a rafting school. The fragility of life collides with the breathtaking beauty and irresistible allure of her sport. The film asks whether it’s possible to take risks while having a family and still follow your own path. Even after forty, Mariann is determined to remain at the top of her discipline and to descend one of the world’s most challenging waterfalls. Her story weaves together adrenaline, stunning landscapes, and the pursuit of sport as a source of personal fulfillment.
