Virtual reality
Under the Same Sky
Under the same sky, a completely different world exists. This documentary film offers an intimate look into the daily reality of Gaza’s inhabitants and shows what life looks like amidst constant threat.
A young trans woman awaits asylum in France, wandering the city at night in a state of unease. Will she ever return home to her cats?
After drawing the attention of local authorities through a social media post, Renée was forced to leave her native Thailand. Now she waits for her asylum application to be processed, drifting through strange, dark streets where the unsettling uniformity of Paris blends with memories of Bangkok. Renée clings to her smartphone, hoping it might offer some sense of direction or reassurance. She searches for comfort, repeatedly dialing the number of the French asylum agency where no one ever answers. Her voice guides the viewer through fragmented spaces, embodying the emotional and spatial weight of exile, the drawn-out uncertainty, and the erasure of identity experienced by a trans asylum seeker cast into isolation.
