Panel debat following the film Marlee Matlin: Not Alone Anymore

A discussion on what it’s like to live as a Deaf user of Czech Sign Language in an environment where your native language is systematically overlooked, and what it means to be a lifelong “foreigner” in your own country.

With Adriana Dergam, member of the Government Council for Human Rights, and Deaf linguist and psychologist Kateřina Holubová.

Moderated by Deaf linguist and community leader Radka Nováková, and linguist and hearing advocate for the sign language user community Lucie Šádlerová.

The discussion in the large hall of the Municipal Library of Prague will be simultaneously interpreted into and from Czech and English. After the debate, the audience will vote for the Abakus Foundation Fund Audience Award for an Outstanding Debate.

Tickets for the film screening followed by the discussion can be purchased here.
