Podcast Zrnění Live
Public service broadcasting in times of crisis
Independent media are a fundamental precondition for protecting human rights. Why is a strong public service broadcaster essential for a healthy society?
As part of the festival’s Podcast Evenings, we welcome the creators of the videocast Zrnění to the Lucerna lounge. This time, they won’t focus only on the past—they will explore how television shapes our reality in times of crisis. From the wild 1990s and the post-revolution search for identity, through political pressures and the “sleeping bag” crisis at the turn of the millennium, all the way to today’s uncertainty.
Topics we’ll explore:
How has television weathered previous upheavals, and does it stand a chance of surviving the years ahead?
What makes the position of Czech public service media unique compared to the rest of the former Eastern Bloc?
Why might the archive be the key to understanding today’s social phenomena, and how does history teach us to confront present-day threats?
Joining the discussion with moderators and editors of the ČT Archive, Jakub Hošek and Jakub Adamus, will be historian and journalist David Klimeš and sociologist Marína Urbániková.
The discussion will be held in Czech.
Attendance at the live podcast recording is only possible with a reservation via GoOut.
