After her mother’s death, Aga decides to move back to Poland and take custody of her younger brother. In order for the authorities to recognize her guardianship, however, she must conceal her love for her partner Maja from everyone.
This intimate documentary by director Mark Kozakiewicz calls for a straight starting line for love in all its forms, and examines the coming of age of a boy who has lost his mother. Aga tries to keep her family together at all costs, but her battle with bureaucracy is not without sacrifice. Because of her guardianship she has to leave Germany, where she has been living and working for a long time, putting her relationship with her partner Maja at risk. The main characters’ battle against a homophobic society and laws is not public, taking place within the family. Its consequences make their mark on the everyday actions of both women and the teenage boy.
