Out in Force
Síla
An intimate portrait of the Czech film critic and feminist Kamil Fila that focuses on his private life, exposing the painful discrepancies between his beliefs and actions.
The documentary maps five years in the life of a public figure who is driven by the desire to get the most out of himself both mentally and physically. Fila's life is full of workaholism, failed relationships, gym drills and steroids. Against the background of a specific person, however, the film raises more general questions about the current concept of masculinity and the feminist transformation of society. What leads a man awarded with the title of Genderman in 2018 to stalk his ex-girlfriend? And how is it that a well-known feminist is so little involved in raising his own child? It turns out that Fila needs his strength not only in the fight against gender inequality, but mainly to face himself.
