Journeys to freedom

This traditional category is devoted to films from regions in which the Czech non-profit organization People in Need is active or that have long been the subject of their attention. This year’s documentaries thus focus on the humanitarian crisis and development aid in the Philippines, life in repressive regimes such as Cuba, or restrictions against democratic opposition in Russia. Finally, this year's films present unique protagonists who fight for the future of their country and the dignity of women in society, whether in Egypt, Iraq, Afghanistan or Ukraine.
