“Not ashamed of being seen” is the motto that the Berlin Bruisers – the first German gay rugby team – live by in their daily lives and when playing sports as they destroy all stereotypes on the playing field.

From tough training and team evenings out to sharing life events, the film tracks a rugby club that functions more as a family than a sports team. The path to recognition and respect was marked by many lost battles both in life and on the field. After 3 years, others began to view the initially disregarded team as an equal opponent. The Berlin Bruisers not only play rugby but are also involved in an anti-bullying campaign, plan various charitable events and organize children’s workshops. This film captures their efforts to belong somewhere – in some places sensitive and quiet, in others happy and loud, just like the team, whose main mission is not to win but to achieve joy through sharing.
