Originally an African swamp, now a huge dump for European electronic waste and one of the world’s most toxic sites, Ghana’s Agbogbloshie continues to brim with activity.

Despite the pollutants hovering over it, clinking metal can be heard at every step in this place nicknamed Sodom. And where metal clinks, coins jingle. This is what lures men, women, and children from afar. An economic ecosystem built on waste recycling exists here, and each of its participants has their own role and their own story. This film presents these stories in the form of comprehensive images showing the life of the entire community as well as intimate views of selected individuals, whose off-screen narrative leads us through their world where dirt mingles with color, dust with lyricism, and apocalyptic visions with magical realism.
