(Searching for Satyrus)
The rare butterfly Satyrus effendi is distant and elusive to Rena, much like her late father. The winged Satyrus can only be seen for a few weeks a year in the mountains between Azerbaijan and Armenia. The desire to learn what kind of life Rustam Effendi led and why he wasn’t more present during Rena’s childhood motivates her to search into her family’s past. A turning point in Rena’s story is the year 1990, when war came to her native Baku just as her father was dying. Family history thus became inseparably linked to the region’s tragic history.

Full-length documentary
A mother and daughter share a quiet evening ritual that gradually transforms into a dark tableau of memory and fear. The film sensitively observes how motherhood becomes a journey toward protection as well as a return to a painful past.
Feature film
Red Crescent volunteers answer an emergency call: a six-year-old girl is trapped in a car under fire in Gaza, pleading for rescue. While keeping her on the line, the humanitarian workers do everything in their power to get an ambulance to her.
