Teenage Life Interrupted

(Teenage Life Interrupted)

No known diagnosis can explain what’s happening to this group of Norwegian girls. Numbness in the limbs and fainting while fully conscious are just some of the symptoms of an illness that has disrupted their adolescence and demands urgent attention.

Unexplained aches and pains shape the lives of four teenage girls, who, despite spending years in and out of doctors’ offices, remain without answers. Before they find support from a compassionate medical team, they often encounter mockery and disbelief. The documentary follows a detective-like investigation into the links between their symptoms while exploring the struggle to heal not only their bodies but also their minds and the despair of their parents. Through a sensitive and immersive lens, the film reveals how much depends on the determination of individuals and how little is still understood about psychosomatic illness.
