The East Doc Platform will run until March 17. This year (almost) without us due to coronavirus.

In order to be able to offer an engaging and meaningful festival programme to our guests from the film industry, we've cooperated with the Institute of Documentary Film (IDF) every year. They've traditionally organised the East Doc Platform (EDP), a social gathering for film professionals from all around the world with the aim of supporting documentary films from Central and Eastern Europe. This unique event — which helps documentary filmmakers connect with distributors and producers and, in turn, helps documentaries from Central and Eastern Europe secure funding and gain partners — is also taking place this year in the age of mandatory FFP2 face masks and social isolation. You can catch it all entirely online from 6 -17 March 2021.

The COVID-19 pandemic and the government measures associated with it have led One World Festival to postpone its festivities until May, which means the festival dates and the East Doc Platform programme will unfortunately not coincide this year. But One World continues to show their support for Central and Eastern European cinema — we appreciate the fact that events like this exist and can continue to take place this year, especially at a time that's been incredibly challenging for all documentary filmmakers across the board.

One World will be participating in three online events as part of the East Doc Platform programme. On Wednesday, 10 March, there will be a virtual meeting over drinks with colleagues from the documentary industry. On Thursday at 5.30 pm, Kristýna Genttnerová from the project "Promítej i ty!” (ENG: “You Can Screen Too”) will participate in a panel discussion on how the pandemic has affected community cinemas. (The discussion will be publicly streamed via Facebook Live.) Thursday night will also offer a virtual documentary pub quiz, put together by the members of the One World team and friends from the IDF.

The entire program is open to film professionals for accreditation.
You can find out more directly on the Documentary Film Institute website HERE.

East Doc Platform is the largest platform for acquiring international partners for co-productions, financing, and the distribution of documentary projects in Central and Eastern Europe. Every year, it helps connect film professionals from all around the world. The project is organized by the Institute of Documentary Film.
