How to set the right neighbourhood climate?
Do you think that you cannot save the climate from the city? Your assumption is quite far from the truth. A single city does not make a difference in the global climate, but there are many options how to change the local environment in a way that will make your hometown a better place to live. At the workshops organized in the Audience Centre Tibet Open House on 7 and 8 March will introduce the easiest ways and solutions.
Inner courtyards as an opportunity
In inner courtyards, rainwater and greenery can be perfectly economised, and it may not be as hard as it looks. Small measures bring great benefits. During the workshop prepared by the Bieno association, we'll show you what you can do and why. We'll also talk about what happens when "owners" meet in the backyard. Let's talk about the chemistry of neighbourly relations and why we should choose peace and tactics. We will find out what the local leaders have to do, how long the journey to a living courtyard is and what is needed for success.
How to reuse the useless?
On Saturday and Sunday, our Audience Centre will also become a centre for recycling, upcycling, sustainable and creative activities. Martina Novotná will teach you how to make something new from used banner material – bags, toiletry kits, wallets. Ilona Machová aka One and a Half Girls will show you how to embroider festival and other motifs. She provides advice on how to fix and mend clothing. Martina and Ilona will be available on Saturdays and Sundays from 11:00 to 16:00. Greenpeace lecturers will teach you how to make a practical and original wallet from bevarage carton. They will be avaialble on Sunday from 9:00 to 15:00 A swap will also take place here during the day. Bring what you no longer need at home (but is still in good condition!) and replace it with something more useful. Let us know in advance which things and how much you are going to bring and please fill in this questionnaire.
How to talk to children about climate change?
Adults have a tendency to protect children from information that might upset them – and the facts about climate change often belong to this category. However, this is a topic that cannot be avoided, especially as it will have a significant impact on the lives of today's children. Climate change is no longer a theoretical problem in the Czech Republic. In recent years, we have seen its effects immediately in our landscape – forests, rivers and cities. How to talk about it with children without scaring them? It is advisable to try to deal with the unpleasant truth first in yourself and to experience your own environmental grief. With children, we can talk about climate change with a greater understanding of their feelings, and we can better estimate their abilities and needs to comprehend what is happening. With the help of our lecturers and experts, you can try to talk to children about climate change without scaring them. The workshop was jointly prepared by the educational programmes of People in Need: One World in Schools and Variants. Suitable for parents, educators and the general public.
