TEATR.DOC – Contemporary Documentary Theatre from Russia

14. 03. 19:30h

NoD, Dlouhá 33, Praha 1

The Teatr.doc ensemble is the only independent documentary theatre group that is not afraid to address the difficult and controversial topics shaking Russian society today, and they are bringing on of their productions to Prague.

Russian Calendar reflects the senseless brutality faced daily by Russian prisoners and detainees, which some of the ensemble’s members have even experienced first-hand. Whilst the national security administration is adored and honoured on many official holidays, it is in fact often responsible for torture and human suffering. The production reveals the absurdly conflicting reality of present-day Russia and, through extraordinarily honest artistic performances, shows that torture is most effective in those places where it is not talked about and that absolutely no one is safe from it in the Russia of today.
