This documentary shot in an Eastern Slovak Roma settlement tracks a group of talented musicians who, despite difficult social conditions, try to get on stage at major music festivals.

The film tells the tragicomic story of the Gypsy Band Lomnické Čháve. The protagonist is the band’s kindly manager, Stano Čonka, who does all he can to ensure the musicians’ success. Always hopeful, he calls all possible venues, from hotels to retirement homes, to arrange gigs. His tasks include ensuring that none of the musicians pawn their instruments. This is a refined narrative about talented outsiders and their ambition of earning a living with their music, who travel in a ramshackle van following their dream of performing at the Pohoda Music Festival. How will they make use of their first big chance? This documentary offers a fresh look at the popular theme of the Roma and their relationship with music. 722 713
