The Short Forms competition consists of documentaries as well as experimental and animated films. This category will include 15 short films (up to 35 minutes) competing for the Mayor of Prague Award for the best short film. Jury members will be organizers and programmers of prestigious international documentary festivals:

Claas Danielsen (Germany)

Class Danielsen

Claas Danielsen first worked as a journalist and then later completed his study of documentary film direction at the Munich Film Academy. He directed seven documentary films, several of which were screened at film festivals and received international awards. Since 1997 he has worked as an assistant at the Department of Documentary Films at the Munich Film Academy, where he helped to establish the Department of Television Journalism. Since 2000 he has worked in the training center of the Discovery Campus, which focuses on documentary film directing. In 2004, he became Director and General Manager of the International Festival for Documentary and Animated Films in Leipzig.

 

Jukka-Pekka Laakso (Finland)

Jukka-Pekka Laakso

Jukka-Pekka Laakso has been the Director of the Tampere Short Film Festival since 2002. The festival is one of the oldest exhibitions of short films in the world and this year celebrated its 35th anniversary. Laakso also works as the Executive Director of the Pirkanmaa Film Center , which is a local non-profit organization working in the area of semi-professional video. In the past he also wrote film reviews for several magazines and radio programs. In 2004 he was named Chairman of the National Council for Cinema. He is also a member of the European Film Academy.

 

Tiina Lokk (Estonia)

Tiina Lokková

Tiina Lokk completed her study of film theory and criticism at the State Film Institute in Moscow. In the eighties she worked for the Estonian Film Studio as screenwriter, editor, and member of the artistic council. In 1993 she co-founded the distribution company Filmimax, focusing on European and independent films. In 1997 she was instrumental in the founding of the Tallinn Black Nights Film Festival, and to this day works as the festival’s Director. In 2000, she was elected member of the European Film Academy. Last year she was named to the Executive Board of European Coordination for Film Festivals.

 

Tine Fischer (Denmark)

Tine Fischer

Tine Fischer completed her study of film and media studies at the University of Copenhagen. Since 1996 she has worked as program editor at the Danish Film Institute, where she has been responsible for the selection of contemporary artistic, experimental and documentary films. She is currently Director of the Copenhagen International Documentary Film Festival, founded in 2002. Over the last decade she has organized a large number of seminars, workshops, and projects focusing on documentary films.

 

Ilana Tsur (Israel)

Ilana Tsurová

Ilana Tsur was born in Israel. She studied at Hebrew University in Jerusalem and at Boston University in the USA. She participated in a large number of documentary programs for Israeli radio and television as a scriptwriter, director, and producer. In 1999, she founded Docaviv, the Tel Aviv International Documentary Film Festival, and has been the Festival Director from this time.
