NEW TIMES ON CROSSROAD STREET, Ivars Seleckis, Latvia

For those of us living in post-Soviet Central and Eastern Europe, a painful transition confronts us every day with questions as to whether we are really true persons and what we see in our neighbours. Do we depict them, do we hate them, can we cooperate with them, do we punish our former enemies or do we try to live together in a civilized European way. Ivars Seleckis´ film shows in a very epic and beautiful way how we have gotten on in these last 10 years. It does not show political conflicts. It shows our everyday life, how we live here in the Czech Republic, in Hungary or in Latvia. Congratulations to the artist who made such a big epic. (Péter Forgács, a jury member)
