ET CETERA …Andrei Osipov, Russia

A documentary that questions the meaning of violence and war, using unique archival footage of Russia's seven conflicts in the 20th century and narration from Reflections on War by Antoine de Saint Exupéry.

Andrei Osipov created a masterpiece, a very precise link between today and the past. The film includes very real footage from WW II, WW I, and the Russo-Japanese War. Even people who fought on the Russian side against Turkey in the middle of the 19th century are shown in this film. It is a confessional type of film which shows that Russia and the Soviet Union caused large-scale violence and civil wars. It is important and nice that a Russian film director brought such a beautiful confession to our screen. (Mark Soosaar, a jury member)
