Protests, Unrest, and Revolt. Festival Graphics Gets Presented!

01.02.2012 | 17:22

Designed by Zuzana Kubíková and David Březina of the Ex Lovers graphic studio, this year's graphic presentation of the festival gets everywhere - the web, social networks, street citylights, festival trailer, and, of course, cinemas.

Referring to one of the major topics of this year's festival  public protests against current establishment along with revolutions around the world - the graphics uses sprays and colours. "Going through the presentations of the situation in the Near East, Wall Street and Europe today and in the past, we have easily come to the conclusion that, across cultures, all public manifestations of discontent have two things in common - emotions and self-made banners and signs. So we have just taken the gestures, emotions and instruments the protesters use to address the establishment - that is, sprays, colours and felt-tip pens - and put them down on paper," say the authors.

The visual graphics is accompanied by the motto "protests, unrest, and revolt". "Free of marketing metaphors or decorations - that is, just as seen in public protests," they explain.

Furthermore, the minimalist posters by Zuzana Kubíková and David Březina are also to protest against perfect marketing photos adjusted in photoshop plaguing the streets of the Czech Republic.

Made in co-operation with the Oficina studio, the festival trailer will be presented in cinemas, on TV and the festival communication channels.
