One World Yearly Activities

10.01.2012 | 14:20

One World is not a single cultural event as one may think; on the contrary, it runs an interesting programme for its audience throughout the whole year.

One of the regular parts of the One World yearly programme, for instance, is Get Your Audience! that enables anyone to organise a film festival of their own - at home, school, club or a favourite café. Films screened at the festival winning the most audience votes are released by One World on a DVD legally and free of charge and made available to be screened anywhere in the Czech Republic; the films, however, are required to be screened free of charge, no documents may be placed on the Internet, and the DVD´s are to be sent back to the One World office. Each DVD is provided with an accompanying material - points to discuss, related questions and answers, as well as some tips on how to help the document heroes. For more information about the project, please go to www.promitejity.cz (in Czech only).

Another regular part of the One World yearly programme is Right to Know - a film and discussion series held every second Thursday (save for the summer holidays and the One World festival days) at the National Technical Library in Prague with a human rights document screening followed by a discussion with experts and a Q&A session on the given topic involving the audience. The Right to Know discussion evening highlights are also available at the One World YouTube site (discussions in Czech only); information about the programme is available at www.jedensvet.cz (in Czech only).
