Women Make Movies Celebrates 40th Anniversary

07.03.2012 | 15:20

Women Make Movies (WMM) - a media arts organization that presents five films at the festival this year - is celebrating its 40th anniversary. WMM facilitates the production, promotion, distribution and exhibition of independent films and videotapes by and about women.
At One World, you can see five films made in cooperation with WMM - Skydancer, Invoking Justice, The Price of Sex, Justice for Sale and Scarlet Road - and meet Kristen Fitzpatrick, Public Exhibition and Acquisitions Manager of WMM and festival guest.
The mission of WMM is to assist women filmmakers with bringing their visions to the screen; and to take films reflecting women´s lives to audiences worldwide.
Since its beginnings in 1972, WMM has grown from a feminist filmmakers' collective into the industry-leading non-profit media arts organization of today with 600 films in its catalog; throughout its history, WMM has assisted hundreds of women filmmakers with the completion of acclaimed, award-winning films.
In 2012, WMM will be screening films around the world at 40 events, reaching over 40,000 women and young girls.
