Erika Hníková / Czech Republic / 2011 / 26 min.
In Three Gifts, documentary film-maker Erika Hníková follows the footsteps of Czech humanitarian aid in Afghanistan. This takes her to the north of the country, where the People in Need foundation has already spent many years striving to improve the living conditions of the local people. They are eking out an existence on the edge of poverty in villages in the foothills, which have been badly affected by many years of war. The film consists of the stories of three families, for whom the People in Need foundation is helping to ensure a stable source of income. Together with the filmmaker, viewers find out how a flock of chickens, a weaving loom or a swarm of bees can influence the life of a family.
